Where to start?

01 — Types of Scoliosis

The most common type of scoliosis is “adolescent idiopathic scoliosis” or pediatric scoliosis. Idiopathic means “of unknown origin”. Research into the cause of scoliosis suggests that there may be a genetic factor which affects the control of the growth of the spine.

Scoliosis can affect both children and adults. We treat pediatric scoliosis and adult degenerative scoliosis. In young children, scoliosis is a very serious condition as it can rapidly progress as the child grows. The four types of scoliosis include:

1. Infantile

2. Juvenile

3. Adolescent

4. Adult

02 — Early detection

Choosing the right treatment for scoliosis relies on first being able to accurately assess and measure it. Scoliosis can be detected through postural assessment, but can only be accurately diagnosed and measured on an X-Ray of the spine. Here’s what to look for:

1. Shoulder asymmetrical

2. Prominent shoulder blade

3. Visible curve

4. Hips asymmetrical

5. Waist asymmetrical

03 — Treatment

If left untreated, scoliosis sometimes requires surgery. In surgical cases, the bones of the spine are fused together and metal rods are inserted to try to straighten the spine. If the correct approach is used early enough, non-invasive care is an effective treatment for halting the progression of scoliosis curves. In many cases our treatment can even reduce or straighten the curve. Our dedicated team harnesses the potential of ScoliBrace, ScoliBalance, CLEAR, as well as multiple other techniques, offering a non-surgical path to a straighter spine for both pediatric scoliosis treatment and adult degenerative scoliosis treatment.

After years of research into the effect of Mirror Image rehabilitation procedures on scoliosis, 3D designed and manufactured ScoliBraces have been developed to treat both adolescent idiopathic scoliosis (AIS) and adult degenerative scoliosis. This scoliosis treatment approach takes into consideration the postural alignment of the patient and the scoliosis deformity in 3 dimensions. Each 3D assessment is used to custom design and manufacture a brace to correct the patients postural and spinal deformity in all 3 planes for effective non-surgical scoliosis treatment.
